The United States Navy's GSA Contract Holder Selects SLS International's Products
SLS International SITI announced today that GSA (General Services Administration) Contract holder The Whitlock Group, (www.whitlock.com), who was recently awarded a 5 year contract to sell audio products, systems and services to the U.S. Federal Government, selected the SLS products to sell to the US Navy for use aboard the aircraft carrier USS Roosevelt.

This first event to utilize the new system was a "Change of Command" ceremony aboard the USS Roosevelt held on June 25th, 2003.

"The USS Roosevelt application called for a long throw system with high intelligibility in a reverberant situation (inside the carrier) and it also needed to be flexible enough to work outside and project over an entire flight deck," said Joe Getz, project manager for The Whitlock Group. "We wanted a system with as much vertical control as possible without being overly complicated. Our goal was to be able to comfortably transition to new operators with as little as a five-minute briefing. The plug and play nature of the SLS, LS8695 along with its excellent sound qualities covered all of these needs much better than any other speaker system that we know of. Due to the bad weather the event was held inside the carrier and it was amazing how the SLS speakers covered the entire area with what seemed to be no variation in sound level. You could stand in front of the speakers and walk back 100 feet and the sound was the same. I was totally impressed as were all of the officials and the audio personal from The Navy."

"This is an ideal application for our LS8695 Line Source column speaker system," stated John Gott, President of SLS International. "We designed this speaker to deal specifically with these types of problems. Normal speaker systems cannot maintain narrow vertical control of the sound they project. They waste a lot of energy and cause many sound cancellations by bouncing the sound off the ceiling and floor. Our LS8695 projects the sound directly at the listeners and only loses half as much output as a normal speaker each time the distance is doubled from the speaker. This allows our system to be turned down in volume for the people in the front rows, while the people in the back can basically hear at the same level. It also means that one LS8695 column speaker can take the place of several conventional speakers. This model is being specified all over the World right now for many installations in the near future due to its unique features."
